Blasts, yet again

hmm, I wanted to blog about movies, but then thanks to yet another serial blasts in Mumbai, did not have the enthu to write one.

How do they get hold off all the soft spots in the city? What were the police doing? Shouldnt they have a better spy network to unearth all these plots?

I just have 2 things to write:

1. This Home Minister (Mr. Shivraj Patil) that we are having at the centre is the weakest that we ever had and that does not augur well for us. Home Ministry is supposed to be on par with the Prime Minister because of its need to the country's safety. There have been strings of violence off-late (the repeal of POTA is a reason also, I believe) and everytime he goes to visit the casualties and offer apologies. I have not seen him pro-active and do something to prevent such acts. Its time to go, Mr. Patil.

2. Shiv Sena did actually help the blasts to be conducted smoothly. No doubt the desecration of Mrs. Thackeray's statue needs to be condemned, but they took the streets, indulged in violence, bandh'ed mumbai thereby the policemen were concentrating on containing this domestic violence. They need to be blamed as well.

And, all I could do from here is feel bad, pray that the casualty count does not go beyond the hundreds it already touched and get on with work. After all none of my known relatives/frends live in Mumbai - that's all I care about :(

Hope tomorrow has better things stacked up.
ps:
To put salt in the wound, here goes Mr. Patil's reaction to ndtv.com
" I am in the process of getting the exact information. Before getting full information, it is not correct for the govt to disclose anything. We would take precautions but not a national alert. -

Not a national alert????!!, I am puzzled, so what calls for a national alert?

It jus makes me feel 'Where are we headed??'.... The spots chosen are the busiest in the city n the time is the peak hour.... outrageous!!

Yes... How can this happen repeatedly in the same city in such span of time? Will it not call for better precautions and security arrangements?

A shocker.

Reflect Taruna's thoughts...a definite need to step up security.Somoe people have no concern for other people's lives. Serial bombings att 6.30 in crowded trains. Somebody's brain is real messed up.

And you're right, not a national alert ? These people are crazy or stupid.

Waiting and watching..

Shuba,
Dont worry the investigations will be on in no time!

Archana,
ya, and it gets worser by the day!

Kutti,
Thinking about it, the last 25-30 years have been the horrific and looks like we r the cursed to watch everything!

Taruna,
I guess the police and administrators tend to become lackadaisical after sometime. And I am not here to criticize them, but then I do believe they could have done a better job at it.

Dinesh,
I guess even the administrators have waited and just watched at the events.
My only prayers are that the casualty list shouldnt be too high!
Sigh!

dont understand what the home ministry can do for this. no country has been successful in curbing internal terrorism. as long as the govt doesnt do anything to improve the overall living conditions of people, such incidents will keep happening.
you can talk of intelligence failure and stuff like that. if a country like USA that boasts of agencies like FBI,CIA etc. couldnt stop an external threat like 9/11 what can india do to curb home grown terrorists.

Imsai Iyer,
So whats the role of the Home Ministry, if this is not their role?
And as Ashok has pointed out, just because US cannot prevent such attacks, doesnt write-off our bungle up.

Ashokla- ya, thats true, usually they do the post-mortem well and nab the culprits soon, this time even that is not happening.

Viji
Ya, they definitely do, dont know what they want to achieve.

If they arrest any terrorists we shud make sure their human rights are not affected. That is what worries me..I am sure our pinko, karunanidhi and congress are also worried about that. So I am happy terrosrists are safe.

that sucks! Only a minister traveling in a soft spot will callfor a national alert in India.

deepa,
i didnt quite get ur comment, u mean -- such a eunuch's acts these? Ya, i totally agree

syam,
i would only partially agree with that. I have seen politicians unite and be patriotic if it is outside forces that attack us, but for internal riots they play the blame-game only too well.

Muthukumar,
And the comedy is SIMI is not a terrorist organization in UP but elsewhere in india it is - Mulayam Singh Yadav... ( yaa, next year elections in UP)

Usha,
yet again, i didnt understand ur comment -- travelling in a soft-spot??

ambi,
ya, just because a policy could be misused, it should not be revoked, and I am talking about POTA.

Ferrari, a fellow blogger commented that its high time some high profile polticians in india succumbed to blasts like this so that they govt. finds enough reason to take action.

i totally agree with him...

Till then these bastards will go on with their lame "Cross border terrorism should stop" slogan..

As if the terrorists r waiting to hear these very words to stop their atrocities...
